Namibia’s trade deficit widened to N$4.4 billion in April 2026, more than double the N$2.1 billion recorded during the same month last year, as export earnings from key mineral commodities declined sharply.

The latest figures from the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) show that exports dropped to N$9.8 billion in April, while imports stood at N$14.2 billion. According to Statistician-General and NSA Chief Executive Officer Alex Shimuafeni, the figures highlight the country’s continued dependence on mining exports and imported manufactured goods.
