Armas, Simon win Husab Marathon over the weekend

Forty-two-year-old Alina Armas once again underlined her endurance and experience by winning the elite women’s 42.2-kilometre (km) race at the Swakop Uranium Husab Marathon on Saturday, securing her fourth victory in the prestigious road race.

Armas produced a strong performance to cross the finish line in 2:42:12, comfortably ahead of Salmi Nduviteko, who finished second in 2:50:54, while Ottilie Aimwata completed the podium in 2:57:00.

The victory adds another chapter to Armas’ impressive marathon career and further cements her status as one of Namibia’s leading long-distance runners.

Armas said her success was the result of thorough preparation and a positive race-day experience.
