SWAKOPMUND – Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensure affordable and reliable water for coastal communities through continued investment in bulk water infrastructure.

This is according to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform Ruthy Masake.

Masake was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the N$83.9 million Schwarzekuppe–Swakopmund Pipeline Replacement Project outside Swakopmund on Wednesday. Schwarzekuppe–Swakopmund project will replace the final nine kilometres of the ageing Kuiseb Collector II–Schwarzekuppe–Swakopmund pipeline, completing the rehabilitation of the entire 80-kilometre system. Once completed, it will improve the reliability of water to the coastal communities.
