RUNDU – Public Enterprises CEOs’ Forum chairperson Fluksman Samuehl has called on government to appoint board members based on merit, arguing that competent leadership is essential to achieving the goals of the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).

Speaking at the opening of the Public Enterprises CEOs’ Forum in Rundu yesterday, Samuehl said the performance of state-owned enterprises depends largely on the quality of leadership at board and executive levels.
Samuehl, who is also Chief Executive Officer of the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company (LWDC), said public enterprises were established through Acts of Parliament to deliver essential services to Namibians.
