Sleepless nights over police exodus … poor salaries linked to resignations

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security (MHAISS) said staff losses within the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) have strained its operations.

The resignations have been largely linked to poor remuneration.

This concern emerged during the National Council’s three-day stakeholder engagement with government offices, ministries and agencies.

The engagement is aimed at strengthening the oversight capacity of councillors and improving accountability in public institutions.

During the engagement, the ministry presented its Strategic Plan 2025-2030, highlighting progress made in strengthening internal security while outlining challenges affecting service delivery across civil registration, immigration, policing and correctional services.

This comes despite significant recruitment drives in the security sector in recent years.
