BREAKING NEWS - Otjiwarongo plot owners raise alarm over uncontrolled livestock

Otjiwarongo farmer and businessman Mark Mucke has raised concerns over uncontrolled livestock movements on the townlands, accusing the municipality of failing to manage roaming animals and respond to complaints. Mucke, a plot owner near Oshivेरongo who has lived in the area for about 23 years, said livestock frequently enter town boundaries and private properties. “The municipality itself has got no control, no idea what is going on here,” he said. He also raised concerns about the authorities’ inability to impound stray animals. Mucke said stock theft had declined on his property due to private security, but he still lost 10 goats this year. He said the problem had persisted since 2017.
