The North East First Division title race is heading for a dramatic final-day finish, with KK United FC, Ohangwena Nampol FC, and Cuca Tops FC locked in a tense three-way battle for promotion to the premier league. At the top, KK United and Ohangwena Nampol are level on 38 points, separated only by goal difference. In comparison, Cuca Tops remain within striking distance on 37 points after a weekend that kept the race finely balanced.

KK United will be rueing their fortunes after dropping vital points at a crucial stage. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Cuca Tops before suffering a 1-0 defeat to relegation-threatened United Stars, a result that denied them the chance to secure early promotion. Despite the setback, KK United coach Matjayi ‘Nakata’ Petrus says his side remains composed heading into the decisive final round.

“The game against United Stars was one of our worst performances this season. We did not play as expected. They came with full energy because they needed the points, and it was not easy for us,”

Petrus says. He adds that external factors, including developments involving other teams, will not distract his side. “We are very calm and focused on our next game.
