Village headmen successions in the Oukwanyama Kingdom will no longer be based on inheritance but also through the ballot, Oukwanyama Traditional Authority senior headman Andrew Naikaku has said.
From now, villagers are now allowed to vote for the village headman of their choosing.

Naikaku revealed this in an exclusive interview with New Era last week.
He was responding to questions regarding the ongoing election for a village headman, which is due to take place at Omunyekadi in the Ohangwena region. The headman of Omunyekadi village, Asser Nandjedi Hamukwaya, died last month.
