Staff Reporter OSINO Gold Exploration and Mining (Pty) Ltd intends to develop a sand storage dam (SSD) with a surface storage capacity of approximately 125,000 cubic metres (m³) on the Spes Bona Compartment of the Khan River in the Erongo Region. The mine, in collaboration with the Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater), recently issued a notice regarding its application for an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) to develop a sand storage dam on the Khan River. “Osino Gold Exploration and Mining (Pty) Ltd (Osino) is currently developing the Twin Hills Gold Project, located 25 km northeast of Karibib within the Erongo Region.
Osino has conducted a multi-source water supply investigation for planned mining operations. Despite the success of investigations undertaken to date, Osino continues to explore water sources to supply the mine and improve water security in areas where it operates,” the notice states. The mine has proposed the development of an SSD with a surface storage capacity of approximately 125,000 m³, which would be captured by a 1-metre-high dam wall on the Spes Bona Compartment of the Khan River.
