SWAKOPMUND – A woman who was allegedly declared dead in 2021, resulting in a N$3 million insurance payout to her husband, a former Old Mutual financial advisor, was arrested on Tuesday in Swakopmund.
The woman, Operi Zamuee, appeared in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court yesterday after investigators found her alive and working.
Zamuee’s arrest is alleged to be the tip of a wider network of alleged insurance fraud that was allegedly orchestrated by her husband.
She is charged with fraud, forgery, money laundering, and contravening the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
