The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has approved a 5% increase in disability income benefits for qualifying members, giving hundreds of beneficiaries’ additional financial support amid rising living costs.
The increase is effective from 1 April 2026 and will benefit 349 pensioners who currently receive disability income from the Fund.

In simple terms, beneficiaries will receive 5% more in their disability income than they were receiving before the adjustment. For example, a beneficiary receiving N$10 000 a month would receive N$10 500 after the increase, although the actual increase will depend on the individual’s existing benefit.
The annual cost of disability income benefits is expected to increase from about N$34.4 million to N$36.1 million.
