NAMIBIA is set to make history in October 2026 as it becomes the first African country to host the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization’s (CTBTO) Integrated Field Exercise (IFE26), a major international exercise aimed at strengthening the global nuclear test monitoring system.

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME) emphasised that there will be no nuclear materials, explosions, radiation or activities that could negatively affect the environment, including soil, water or wildlife.
Residents in the Erongo Region may notice temporary security arrangements, field camps and scientific equipment during the exercise, which officials said are normal components of the planned training.
