After standing abandoned for three years following the closure of its ageing and unsafe infrastructure, Oluno Secondary School in Ondangwa, Oshana region is set for a new lease on life after government committed N$50 million towards renovating and upgrading the facility.
The investment will go beyond the rehabilitation of buildings, with funds expected to address the school’s broader infrastructure and operational needs to create a safe, functional and conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The school’s buildings have been there since 1977 and had deteriorated over several years and were deemed a safety risk for both learners and teachers. The worsening condition ultimately forced the relocation of learners to other schools three years ago, leaving the campus abandoned.
