The urgent application lodged by social activist Michael Amushelelo, in which he sought an order directing the immediate removal of the “highly dangerous and unlawfully installed” speed humps along the capital’s B1 Western Bypass Road, has been dismissed.
The application was dismissed on Friday by Windhoek High Court Judge Gabriel Komboni.

The matter arose after the Ministry of Works and Transport began installing speed humps along the road, following an instruction by the minister, Veikko Nekundi.
The installation is part of an immediate road safety intervention aimed at reducing vehicle speeds, improve driver alertness and enhance pedestrian safety in high-risk areas.
In his application, Amushelelo sought a compelling interdict ordering the immediate removal of the speed humps on a “critical high-speed national highway network, specifically the B1 Western Bypass near the Northern Industrial area.”
