NAIROBI- The steady hum of automated production lines echoes through a Chineseinvested avocado oil processing plant in Kenya’s Athi River Export Processing Zone, where freshly harvested avocados are stored, ripened, sorted and cold-pressed into extra virgin avocado oil destined for the Chinese market.

On 1 May, China fully implemented a zero-tariff treatment for 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations.
