KATIMA MULILO – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Zambezi region reported two separate hit-and-run incidents on the Trans-Caprivi Highway on Monday.
NamPol, in an incident report issued here on Tuesday, said the first incident occurred in the Omega 3 area at about 19h30, when a 23-year-old male resident of the area was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle travelling in the direction of Divundu, opposite the Ndoro Memorial School.
“He sustained head injuries and a broken left arm and was transported to Chetto Clinic in a critical condition,” it said.

In the second incident, an unidentified man between 60 and 70 years succumbed to his injuries on the road in the same area, after he was allegedly found lying on the road with broken legs.
“Though he was still breathing when discovered, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene while officers were arranging for an ambulance,” it read.
Both incidents have been registered at the Menias Brian Libuto Police Station on Tuesday and are being investigated.
Meanwhile, a search into the drowning incident reported on Sunday at around 12h00 at Nfoma village, in the Imukusi area of the Kabbe North constituency, had yielded little results by Tuesday afternoon.
According to NamPol Zambezi commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, a canoe carrying seven people capsized on the Namibian side of the Zambezi River.
All occupants were Zambian nationals from Katongo village in the Sesheke District.
They had allegedly crossed into Namibia illegally to attend a burial at Nfoma.
“Five people managed to swim to the shore, while two remained holding onto the canoe. However, due to strong winds, the canoe drifted, and they disappeared. The two who drowned have been identified as a 51-year-old Zambian female and an eight-year-old Zambian male,” said the commissioner.
A joint search operation between Namibian and Zambian authorities has been underway, but the missing people have not yet been located.
