High Court denies Schultz bail appeal

UPDATE: South African national Armand Carel Schultz (27), who was arrested after the discovery of a N$52 million cannabis plantation in the Khomas Hochveld area, will remain in custody after High Court judges of appeal Claudia Claasen and Eileen Rakow today dismissed a High Court application seeking to overturn a lower Magistrate’s Court decision denying Schultz bail. The State alleges that Schultz was the farm manager at Farm Eendrag, located in the Khomas Hochveld area, and was responsible for operating the irrigation system by switching it on and off to water the cannabis plantation, which is said to be valued at N$52 million. Reasons for the judgment are yet to be provided.
