The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) is pushing for the introduction of the pioneering Rent-to-Own housing model.
The initiative aims at expanding homeownership opportunities among Namibia’s government employees, low-income earners and middle-income households.

The proposal was presented to the minister of urban and rural development, James Sankwasa, during a meeting held on Tuesday.
GIPF CEO Martin Inkumbi outlined the core objectives of the initiative, highlighting its potential to address longstanding barriers to affordable housing.
“This model seeks to make homeownership accessible to all Namibians without the need for payslips or the imposition of restrictive lending criteria commonly associated with traditional housing finance,” Inkumbi stated.
