The Bank of Namibia said Namibia’s financial system remains stable, with banks and other financial institutions able to withstand economic pressures.
The Bank’s Macroprudential Oversight Committee (MOC) said that financial institutions continue to maintain strong capital and liquidity levels despite uncertainty in the global economy.
“The committee concluded that Namibia’s financial system remains sound and stable,” BoN said.

The assessment was made during the MOC’s first meeting of 2026 on 20 July, when the committee reviewed global and domestic economic conditions and potential risks to the financial sector.
The Bank said no further measures are required at this stage but warned it would continue to monitor developments that could threaten financial stability.
“The MOC stands ready to implement appropriate macroprudential policy measures should systemic risks intensify,” the Bank said.
Global markets have been affected by ongoing conflicts, inflationary pressures and tighter financial conditions. The Bank said these factors continue to create uncertainty for economies worldwide.
Despite these challenges, Namibia’s economy improved in the first quarter of 2026, growing by 2%, compared with 0.1% in the final quarter of 2025.
