Namibia’s drive to maximise value from its mineral wealth received another boost yesterday as mining contractor General Mining Services (GMS) reaffirmed its long-term commitment to local investment, employment and skills development during the launch of its new corporate brand at the Namibia Mining Expo.

The company, formerly known as Gezhouba Mining Services, used the occasion to unveil its new identity, reflecting its ambition to strengthen its presence in Namibia while expanding its position as an international mining services provider.
The rebranding comes five years after the company entered the Namibian market in 2021 and has since grown into one of the country’s major mining contractors, employing more than 500 workers, over 90% of whom are Namibians.
Speaking at the launch, minister of industries, mines and energy Modestus Amutse said companies operating in Namibia’s mining sector should do more than extract minerals.
