Groundbreaking of Schwarzekuppe-Swakopmund Pipeline Replacement Project

Government, NamWater and development partners on Wednesday officially broke ground on the N$83.9 million Schwarzekuppe–Swakopmund Pipeline Replacement Project, describing it as a major investment in securing reliable water supplies for the central coast for decades to come.

The project forms the final phase of the rehabilitation of the Kuiseb–Collector 2–Schwarzekuppe–Swakopmund (CSS) Pipeline, a strategic water supply system that has served the Erongo Region since 1974. The remaining nine kilometres of ageing pipeline, known as Sections 6B and 6C, will now be replaced over the next 12 months, with completion expected by mid-2027.
