Ohangwena governor Kadiva Hamutumwa has renewed calls for the construction of an intermediate hospital.
She said the region’s three district hospitals are no longer sufficient to serve a population of more than 300 000 people.

Hamutumwa made the appeal during a visit by deputy minister of health and social services Susan Ndjaleka, who toured government institutions in the region to assess the State of public service delivery.
She said the shortage of specialised healthcare services in Ohangwena has resulted in a growing number of patients being referred to Oshakati Intermediate Hospital and Onandjokwe State Hospital, placing additional pressure on the two facilities.
