Venaani accused the government and the ruling Swapo Party of targeting the PDM following the suspension of salary payments to employees of the Kunene Regional Council, questioning the legal basis for withholding salaries over an administrative dispute.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Venaani alleged that Minister of Urban and Rural Development James “Ayatollah” Sankwasa had stopped the salaries of regional employees due to a dispute involving the former Chief Regional Officer (CRO) of the Kunene Regional Council.
