Meatco Completes Handover of Katima Mulilo Abattoir as ZAMCO Agreement concludes
The Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) has officially finalised the handover of operations at the Katima Mulilo Abattoir, marking the end of a multi-year management partnership in the Zambezi region.

The transition follows the successful conclusion of a five-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Zambezi Meat Corporation (ZAMCO). Meatco had been operating and managing the northern communal area facility under this framework since 2021.
After ZAMCO exercised its contractual right to terminate the MoA, Meatco respected that decision and worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure an orderly, professional and seamless transition of operations. Throughout the process, the Corporation remained focused on protecting the interests of livestock producers, employees, and the continued operation of the abattoir.
