Close to thirty family members, friends and admirers gathered at the Hosea Kutako International Airport late last night to welcome home the very successful NAPSO team that took part in the 2026 World Youth Games in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The team brought home no less than six medals, of which three were gold, two silver and one bronze. Laliq Adams hit the trifecta with three gold medals.
Laliq Adams is a rising star Namibian track and field athlete who specialises in throwing events, including shot put, discus and javelin. She has rapidly established herself as one of the country’s most promising young athletic talents on the international stage.

Major Career Highlights – World Youth Games Dominance (2026)
Competing at the 2026 World Youth Games in Gothenburg, Sweden, she captured a phenomenal triple gold medal streak in the Girls U14 division.
Shot Put: Won Namibia’s first gold medal of the games with a powerful distance of 13.58 metres. Javelin: Secured her second gold medal with a dominant throw of 38.66 metres. Discus: Completed her golden treble by winning the event with a remarkable distance of 44.06 metres.
