Eagles fly high on Dutch tour

The FNB Namibian Eagles completed their Dutch tour on a high with a six-wicket victory against The Netherlands on Friday.

It was their third win out of four matches on the tour after they twice beat Nepal, while suffering one defeat against the Dutch, which gave them a haul of six crucial points in the Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament.

In the process they climbed two positions up to fifth on the log on 28 points, but with only four matches remaining, they still face an uphill battle to finish among the top four teams – which will progress to the final global qualifier for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, that Namibia will co-host with South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The United States (US) lead the log on 43 points from 32 matches, and are already through to the global qualifier, while The Netherlands and Scotland, on 38 points each from 32 matches, are virtually certain to finish among the top four.

Oman are fourth on 31 points, but with four matches in hand on the leaders, they are also in a strong position to finish among the top four, while Namibia are fifth on 28 points from 32 points.
