THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform is preparing to support farmers ahead of the 2026/27 rain-fed cropping season, with N$8 million earmarked for the servicing and repair of its tractor fleet and subsidised agricultural equipment to be made available to eligible farmers.

The 2026/27 ploughing season is scheduled to run from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027.
Acting Executive Director of the ministry, Petrus Canissius Nangolo, said preparations would focus on ensuring that the ministry’s agricultural machinery is operational and improving farmers’ access to appropriate equipment.
A total of 508 tractors have been identified for servicing and repairs countrywide. Of these, 385 require minor servicing, while 112 require major repairs.
