THE Registrar of Medicines at the Namibia Medicines Regulatory Council (NMRC), Frieda Shigwedha, has warned against the importation, sale and use of unauthorised GLP-1 and peptide-containing medicines.
She revealed that there has been an increase in the importation, advertising, distribution, prescribing, dispensing and sale of unauthorised GLP-1 and peptide-containing medicines marketed for weight loss and diabetes through social media, online vendors, informal markets and, in some instances, healthcare establishments.
