‘Conservation, environmental issues can be solved by indigenous people’

KATIMA MULILO – Ombudsman Basilius Dyakugha says indigenous people can offer many solutions to the problems the country faces.

Speaking at the commemoration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex on Sunday, Dyakugha said these solutions include conservation and environmental issues, stressing that indigenous people have cared for the land and environment and lived in harmony with it for thousands of years.

“Indigenous knowledge is ancient, and it has been tested by time. It can guide us when we are facing modern challenges like climate change. When we listen to indigenous voices, we open doors to learn new ideas,” he said.
