Kavango West focuses on agriculture, youth employment

Kavango West Governor Verna Sinimbo, in her 2026 State of the Region Address (SORA) said agriculture, infrastructure development, youth empowerment and improved service delivery will remain at the centre of the region’s development agenda as government works to stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities.

Sinimbo noted key achievements, challenges and plans aimed at transforming one of Namibia’s youngest regions into a major contributor to the national economy.

Under the theme “Growing the Future Together: Youth-Led Agriculture, Employment and Prosperity for Kavango West”, the governor said the region’s youthful population presents a unique opportunity to drive economic development through agriculture, entrepreneurship, education and skills development.

Despite progress in several sectors, she acknowledged that youth unemployment, poverty, climate-related challenges and infrastructure shortages continue to hamper development.

Sinimbo elaborated on the region’s priorities, major capital projects, governance, employment creation and plans to stimulate economic growth.
