LUDERITZ – The National Disability Council of Namibia (NDCN) recently awarded individuals and organisations for their outstanding contribution towards enabling its mandate.

Awards, together with framed certificates and cash prizes were handed over to the best sportswoman-and-man with a disability, team of persons with disabilities, best disability activist, service provider for persons with disabilities, employer for persons with disabilities and organisation of persons with disabilities during the event. In her keynote address Vice President (VP) Lucia Witbooi said, in line with the befitting theme, stakeholders have come together over the past three days to challenge stereotypes, share lived experiences, and highlight the vibrant contributions of persons with disabilities in society. “While our National Disability Week 2026 officially concludes today, the mission of true inclusion, empowerment, innovation, accessibility and equal participation of persons with disabilities does not end,” Witbooi said.
