SOUTH Africa will mark its return to the FIFA World Cup after a 16-year absence when Bafana Bafana take on hosts Mexico in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on 11 June at Mexico City Stadium.

The fixture will launch the biggest World Cup in history, featuring 48 teams, 104 matches and 16 host cities spread across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
