The Strategy for the Transformation of the Agri-food Sector (STAS) 2025/26–2030/31 seeks to revitalise agriculture after its contribution to the economy declined from about 8% in 2006 to approximately 3.5% in 2020.

Under the strategy, government wants farmers to move beyond subsistence farming and embrace commercial agriculture by increasing production, developing agribusinesses and adding value to agricultural products.
