Namibian swimming continues to thrive thanks to talented young athletes, but few families have shaped its recent progress as much as the Berghs. Seventeen-year-old Madison Bergh is one of Namibia’s leading swimmers, specialising in middle-to-long-distance freestyle and open water events. Her younger brother, 14-year-old Riley Bergh, is quickly establishing himself as one of the country’s most promising youth swimmers.

Both compete for Marlins Aquatic Club and have become familiar names on podiums across the country. Born and raised in Namibia, the siblings spent much of their childhood outdoors, with water sports playing a central role in their lives. While Madison was introduced to swimming in pre-primary school, Riley found his way into the sport through his older sister.
